The National Associations Strategic Partnership (NASP), representing the UK’s leading driver training organisations, has written to government ministers outlining concerns about recent changes to the practical driving test booking system.
In the letter, NASP warns that limiting the ability of Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) to access the booking platform could reduce the influence of professional instructors in determining when learners are ready for test. The group argues that this may lead to more learners attempting tests before they are properly prepared, with potential consequences for road safety.
NASP also raises questions about the consultation process that led to the decision and urges ministers to consider the wider impact on the driver training profession and the licensing system.
