NASP urges trainers to lobby their MPs over latest driving test measures

The National Association’s Strategic Partnership, NASP, is urging trainers to write to their local MP if they are unhappy with the Government’s latest measures to tackle test waiting times (announced by Minister of State for Transport last week), and concerned at the manner in which the consultation into these measures was conducted.

In a poll DIA began running last week, shortly after the measures were announced, the majority of instructors responding so far have stated they are unhappy at the announcement of measures to block instructors from using the OBS to book tests and reduce the flexibility of swaps. Additionally over 80% of respondents feel that the Government and DVSA are handling the overall waiting times issue poorly.

Members have been seeking guidance on what they can do to raise their concerns. To that end NASP have prepared a letter template for those who wish to escalate the matter to their local MP.

DIA wrote to the Secretary of State last Wednesday to communicate the concerns of the industry on this issue.

If you would like to write to your local MP, you’ll find the letter template below and find your MP’s email address here: https://members.parliament.uk/region
