Update on restart for driving tests and lessons

Scottish and English governments have announced their roadmaps for the end of lockdown.

Further to the PM’s announcement of the four-step plan driving lessons have been included in step two. All going well that will be on 12 April 2021.

For instructors in Scotland, the First Minister has announced their roadmap. Driving lessons will not be allowed to start until 26 April when the level system will be reintroduced, however there will be three-weekly reviews and NASP will update as and when we receive them.

DVSA released this update today for England: “In line with the government’s roadmap announcement driving and theory tests will resume no earlier than 12 April.

“DVSA is working closely with the government and will provide more information as soon as we are able to do so on other tests, lessons and training.”

In Wales the current restrictions remain and are being reviewed on 12 March.

NASP is arranging a meeting with DVSA early in March, where we will discuss all the implications of test dates and how DVSA intends to cope with the very long waiting lists. We will update you with a summary of the meeting.
